Jerry Margolius
Jerry holds Master Degree (UCT), a Diploma in Property Valuation as well as a Higher Diploma in Arbitration.
He is a Registered Property Valuer/Appraiser, a Fellow/Life member of the of the SA Institute of Valuers (FSAIV), a member of Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a Fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (FAArb) as well as a registered Estate Agent. Jerry is the managing member of Jerry L Margolius & Associates CC (“JLM”), a director of Margin Property Valuation Services (Pty) Limited & Jonic Properties.
Jerry has been actively involved in the property valuation profession for over 45 years. Included amongst the client base of JLM are Companies, Trusts and Individual property owners, Listed Companies and Funds, Private and Public Government and Provincial Departments, Embassies, as well as educational institutions.
With commitment to the profession as a whole, Jerry is a Past President of the SA Institute of Valuers where he served on the Executive Committee for 10 years. In addition, he has also served on the Boards of the SA Council for the Property Valuation Profession (SACPVP) and the Council for the Built Environment (CBE) as well as appointed as an Assessor to the Land Claims Court. He is the Editor of the SA Valuers Manual, a reference binder endorsed by the SAIV and a guest lecturer on the Master’s Program (UCT), from time to time.
In addition to General Valuations he has specialised in litigation support acting as an expert witness in relation to valuations including Expropriation (eminent domain), Municipal Valuation Appeals, Fiscal Valuations, Land Restitution Claims (Historical Valuations) and appraisals for deceased estates.
Jerry is a qualified Arbitrator and specialises in Arbitration with regards to property valuations, rental reviews and sectional title disputes. In addition, he acts as an Umpire in valuation matters, provides litigation support and as an expert witness.
